Cyan's CyAlliance targets diverse wireless backhaul needs

02.02.2010

Cyan`s multi-vendor program CyAlliance is proof positive that solving a complex problem like wireless backhaul takes a united front that leverages the brain trust of multiple diverse sources. Joining Cyan`s CyAlliance are a diverse group of wireless backhaul vendors that span various disciplines including Ethernet (ANDA and Hatteras), multi-service platforms (Overture Networks), and microwave (Dragonwave).

Given the diverse network needs for wireless backhaul, CyAlliance will provide interoperability assurance via verification testing, problem resolution through escalation processes in addition to collaboration on architectural considerations such as end to end packet synchronization in multi-vendor deployments. In addition to wireless backhaul, the CyAllaince will address other emerging services and technologies.

One service provider that spoke out in support of the CyAlliance was current Cyan customer IRIS Networks that provides regional transport services for a diverse set of ILECs, CLECS and ISPs in Tennessee and some surrounding states that provide a host of services, including wireless backhaul. IRIS said that the CyAlliance would help it "further simplify the planning, implementation and operations across multiple vendor solutions [as well as] further improve our ability to reliably serve our customers."
