The small to medium business (SMB) market may be one of the most diverse markets for any telecom provider to serve, but they do share some common attributes: they don`t have the staff, knowledge or really the time to handle complex IT provisioning and maintenance. After polling a group of SMBs earlier this year, who responded that IT and telecom was "complicated," Qwest has come to the table with its Core Connect solution. Core Connect will give SMBs a one-stop shop with high speed Internet, phone, business email and website hosting service.

Any size SMB (one-person shop to a multi-location business) can get the Qwest Core Connect service for an initial promotional $69.99 monthly price for six months with a two or three-year service commitment. After that initial period ends, Qwest will apply its regular SMB rate, which it says will depend on commitment terms and what Internet speed is chosen in that bundle. One thing that will likely resonate with SMBs is easy access to local customer service and sales reps. Qwest`s redesigned small business website features a "click-to-call" capability that allows an SMB customer to enter their phone number and request a return call from either a customer or sales representative.
