Sunrise Telecom and Calnex Solutions took time out at this week`s Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Quarterly meeting to announce they have established a partnership to sell Calnex`s Paragon test products in Latin America.
Already a well established player in the Latin American telecom market, Sunrise Telecom will serve as a channel partner for Calnex and in turn help it extend its market reach in the region.
In addition to addressing current Ethernet testing needs, the Sunrise/Calnex partnership will provide a new test solution for Latin American service providers to address emerging Ethernet synchronization technologies, including IEEE 1588v2, Synchronous Ethernet, as well as Ethernet operations administration and maintenance (OAM) standards like ITU-T Y.1731.
Long before it established a working relationship with Sunrise, Calnex has been quite active in addressing the emerging Ethernet synchronization testing market. It has done this not only through its Paragon product line, but also through other joint partnerships with other fellow test/measurement vendors (JDSU), traditional network vendors (Aviat, Nokia Siemens Networks and Omnitron) in addition to sponsoring Ethernet synchronization expert Jean-Loup Ferrant at the ITU-T`s Y.1731 Study Group on Ethernet synchronization.
Having a joint synchronization testing solution in hand will likely benefit existing or new Sunrise Telecom wholesale service providers that sell to wireless operators or the wireless operators themselves that are migrating their wireless backhaul networks to Ethernet.
